Rain or shine: indoor tourism in Laval

Family on the run
Christine, Mathieu and their three children

Once again, we'd like to introduce you to a family from Sherbrooke - two adults and three children - who spent a week in the Laval region during their summer vacation. Here's the fascinating story of La Famille en Cavale's stay!

There's nothing sadder than booking a weekend of outdoor activities months in advance, only to have THE stormiest day in July, or the only day in history when a tornado hits the campsite where you've pitched your tent (true story).

If you're convinced that bad luck follows you on vacation like a curse, perhaps you'd like to plan activities that will take place no matter what, whether it's -75°C or a deluge floods half of Jesus Island.

We have already talked about Cosmodome on this blog. Clip'n Climb and the Musée Armand-Frappierthree indoor activities we've loved, but indoor tourism in Laval offers many more possibilities.

Putting Edge

We were particularly surprised to find that Centropolis has a veritable "nightlife"! Of course, with the many restaurants and bars, life goes on until late at night. Putting Edge, a fluorescent indoor mini-golf course, is one of those places where night owls can go, especially on Friday and Saturday nights, when the doors close at 1am. Without taking ourselves too seriously, we went to play the 18-hole course in the evening, much to the delight of the children, who were playing the classic game of mini-putt for the first time. We don't really know who won, but Eva certainly wore out the slide and our ears from screaming WOUHOUUUUU down it!

iSaute

Five minutes from Centropolis, in the heart of an industrial district, lies iSaute, a colorful indoor trampoline center where you can jump for your life with family and friends. Monday evening was "family night", so we took the opportunity to take a few bounces on their countless trampolines. Not being stuntmen at heart, we first jumped for a few minutes on the spot, before exploring the various possibilities on offer: tightrope (slackline), basketball, dodgeball and jumps into foam pools.

iSaute children

Each child found his or her favorite activity and, despite a few daredevils who scared us, we had a lot of fun.

Daddy jumps

Sometimes, good weather itself can be uncomfortable. On Monday, on the eve of a thunderstorm, when it was approaching 40°C, we took the opportunity to snuggle up inside and visit a major attraction at Centropolis: iFLY.

Even if our children are too young for these kinds of activities, visiting them is an activity in itself, and it costs nothing for the public to spend an afternoon sitting in the cool, watching people take part in these breathtaking attractions.

iFLY

If there's one activity we'd love to have done, it's fly through the air, in the iFLY's powerful wind tunnel. Even if the technique seems difficult to master at first, everyone manages to float steadily, and the smiles on everyone's faces speak volumes about what it must feel like to no longer touch the ground. We just happened to be there for one of the instructors' crazy demonstrations, as they performed figures worthy of an aerial show! We were completely speechless.

Children's museum

Ideal for igniting the spark in children's eyes, this museum gave them the chance to do what the "real thing" does. In the space of a few hours, they became firefighters, crane operators, singers, astronauts, veterinarians and airplane pilots! They had the chance to try out a range of activities that amazed them while they had fun.

In short, whether your vacation is going to be rainy and gray or too hot and scorching, indoor tourism in Laval offers something for everyone!
