8 indoor activities for back-to-school fun
Back-to-school season is fast approaching, marking the end of summer days. Students finish their summer jobs and want to reward themselves, or simply enjoy the last few days of vacation with friends before returning to school. Day camps end early in August, leaving parents and grandparents scrambling for ideas to entertain the young ones. And since the weather is fickle, I suggest you escape the changeable moods of the sky by discovering our indoor Laval attractions in dry, air-conditioned conditions!
Attraction BFLY Laval
If you like butterflies, this attraction is for you. BFly invites you into its magical aviary with four domes and a movie theater. Use a sugar-soaked foam stick to attract butterflies to you. Children will love the experience!
Cosmodome
Everyone can locate Laval's legendary rocket, but the vast majority of you have never been there. This summer, find a moment to don your astronaut suit and fly to the planet Mars at Cosmodome. No one can remain indifferent to the solar system and the immensity of the universe. You'll learn a whole host of new things and pique the curiosity of your minis. While you're at it, order yourself a dry ice cream sandwich, just like the ones astronauts eat. Yummy!
Zone 15
To let off steam before the start of the school year, invite your friends for a day at Zone 15 where you can play mini-putt, laser tag, table soccer, billiards, board games and even immerse yourself in the world of virtual reality. There's plenty for families too. Young teenagers will be thrilled by the choice of activities on offer, and parents can take part in a table soccer tournament or simply relax in the air-conditioning.
The Secret Cube
In the age of escape games, Laval is definitely the place to be. Le Cube Secretlocated in the industrial district, welcomes you to its mysterious and intriguing apartments. You'll have one hour to solve the riddle and escape. Gather all those who don't have a swimming pool and spend an hour in the air conditioning. Wonderful, isn't it!
Water Interpretation Centre (C.I.EAU)
What would Laval be without the water that surrounds it? We often take our drinking water for granted, and also mistakenly think that it's an inexhaustible source. I'm currently teaching my daughters not to leave the water running when they brush their teeth, or how long a good hand wash lasts, without wasting the equivalent of the Nile in unused water. They're still too small to understand, but the intention is there. The Centre d'interprétation de l'eau (C.I.EAU), located in Vieux Sainte-Rose, is the ideal place to deepen your understanding of the water we use. A visit to the wastewater treatment center is a must for everyone. Afterwards, you can enjoy a picnic on the riverbanks and watch the many families of bustards that come to drink.
AeroSim Experience
Do you secretly dream of becoming an airplane pilot, or has your little girl built herself a replica cockpit from the contents of the recycling bin? AeroSim Experience is a great surprise you could give yourself or your little one. This professional-grade simulator will give you the feeling of actually flying a Boeing 737 and F18 fighter jets. With over 24,000 destinations and a full-scale cockpit, all you have to do is put on your pilot's shirt and you're ready to go.
Funtropolis
A day of indoor activities can be just as exciting as the rest of your summer plans. Take advantage of the uncertain weather to bring your little ones to FuntropolisCanada's largest Ball-O-Cité ball game attraction. Multi-level play modules, slides, ball pool, mazes, trampolines, zip lines, bumper cars and more. They'll feel like it's their birthday!
Café Déco Céramique
Another great option for everyone is to practice an art. Choose a mug, a vase, a trinket or a piggy bank at the Café Déco Céramique and let your imagination run wild as you paint them. You can also enjoy a lunch break in the restaurant. To your brushes!
In short, Laval is brimming with activities that will let you enjoy the last few weeks of vacation before school starts, while staying cool between sunburns and showers!
