It is possible to reignite the spark after having children!

My life is not a smooth ride. As a mother of two, specialized educator and blogger, I am constantly looking for new challenges. I learn, I meet, I discover, and I write.

I don’t even know what “time for two” means anymore. Just like eating a hot meal with both hands—it’s a myth. I’m lucky to have had two kids in the last three years. I’m incredibly happy, but pretty burned out! Let’s face it, it’s a real workout.

Our relationship took a back seat while we were building our family. We make a point of celebrating our anniversary and our wedding anniversary, and that’s about it. To really feel like we were getting away from it all, my boyfriend and I used to celebrate these anniversaries in Montreal. This year, with our baby just one month old, we celebrated our wedding anniversary at home, between drinks.

Surprise

A few months later, I decided to surprise my boyfriend and plan a nice evening for the two of us. My mother-in-law was available to come over and babysit our daughters for the night. So, it was a done deal. Choosing what to do wasn’t easy. I quickly realized there were a lot more things to do in Laval than I’d thought. In the end, we decided to go rock climbing. Here’s the thing: my boyfriend is afraid of heights, and neither of us had ever climbed before. Well, it wasn’t exactly a resounding success, but it had been a really long time since we’d laughed that much. I’d also like to thank the team at Clip n’Climb Laval for cheering us on and not judging us too harshly.

To add a touch of glamour to our outing, we spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in our fabulous suite at the Hilton Laval. My boyfriend and I did what every parent secretly dreams of doing when the kids aren’t around: taking a hot bath, listening to something other than cartoons, and eating chips in the middle of the afternoon! True luxury.
