Town and country on the same island

Family on the run
Christine, Mathieu and their three children

Once again, we're bringing you posts from a Sherbrooke family - two adults and three children - who spent a week in the Laval region during their summer vacation. Here's the fascinating story of the Family on the Run!

Contrary to preconceived ideas, Laval isn't just a dormitory suburb, and I think we've managed to show you that since the start of the week. But it's not just a city, it's also the countryside!

Just step away from the main thoroughfares, and just a few minutes from Centropolis, you'll find yourself in the middle of an open field!

So we devoted part of our Sunday to discovering Laval's agri-food production. There's no shortage of family farms here!

We started with a visit to the Fromagerie du Vieux St-François, where the goats were more than happy to approach us and be petted by the children!

We settled for a self-guided tour, as there wasn't enough time to see everything, but if you're a goat cheese lover, you should know that several tour and tasting packages are available from June to October. The cheesemaker was kind enough to let us taste some of his cheeses!

The variety of their products is impressive! They even have gelato!

We also stopped by one of Ferme Marineau 's kiosks. New this year, a foodtruck serving artisanal ice cream made with harvested fruit: a stop the whole family will love!

The farm produces fruits and vegetables, and their displays are sure to whet your appetite!

They offer a wide range of processed products with charming labels, perfect for gift-giving!

At the kiosk on Boulevard Dagenais, there's even a play area for kids, and an old tractor they can ride on!

It was a little too sunny for our taste, so we enjoyed berries in the shade on a picnic table instead.

If we lived in Laval, there's no doubt we'd regularly take advantage of this charming little market to do our shopping!
