Year after year, we celebrate St. Patrick's Day in our own way. Parades, shamrock-shaped cookies and... black beer are the order of the day! It's the latter that inspired our itinerary of the perfect places to toast the Irish holiday and eat a burger. Why a burger? Only because.
Dry Stout and Burger Les Insulaires
It's no secret that the beers offered by Les Insulaires Microbrasseurs are all exceptional, and each one is worthy of mention. However, for St. Patrick's Day, the one we're putting in the spotlight is Ma Banlieue, a dry stout, a thirst-quenching black ale that showcases roasted malt. A true liquid delight, at 5%. To accompany this delight, we suggest another, the Burger Les Insulaires, made with St-Paulin cheese, beer-caramelized onions, spicy house mayonnaise, house-smoked bacon, arugula and tomatoes. Frankly, it makes you want to celebrate all year long.
Boréale Noire and Bison Break
To get together and celebrate St. Patrick's Day in a dynamic and inviting atmosphere, we suggest the Balthazar Resto-Pub in Laval. Boréale Noire awaits you on site. This stout with flavors of cocoa, caramel, nuts and toast is served in 12-ounce, 20-ounce or pitcher formats. To accompany it all, try the Bison Break, a bison burger topped with goat cheese, red beer onion confit, oil-sautéed mushrooms, bacon, lettuce and garlic confit mayonnaise.
Murphy's Stout and cheeseburger
Depending on what you're in the mood for, and assuming it's an effervescent place with a sporting atmosphere, we suggest a stop at Jack Astor's. With friends and no fuss, you can drink a Murphy's Stout (in 18-ounce format) and eat a real cheeseburger. You'll see, there are more boring and less tasty ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
