Camping enthusiasts who, like us, want to experience Laval over several days should turn to thehotel offer. As part of our stay, we were lucky enough to visit several hotels that offered to let us spend one or two nights with them. For us, who usually travel on the simplest of terms, discovering the hotel world was a first (apart of course from one or two roadside motels, when the weather made camping impossible).
Staying in a hotel represents an increase in comfort that surpasses anything we've experienced with our families. These nights of silence and darkness, with perfect temperatures and clean, hot showers, enabled us to keep up with our busy days and recover for the next day's activities.
Six family-run hotels are within easy reach of the Centropolis and Carrefour Laval, making it easy to get around the island: the Sheratonthe Residence Innthe Holiday Innthe Comfort Innthe Hilton and the Grand Hôtel TiMES. For Rocket fans, the brand-new Courtyard by Marriott is strategically located near Montmorency metro station and Place Bell.
If you choose one of these, you'll certainly be well accommodated, and your children will be well received. But we've decided to tell you what we liked best about each place, to help you make your choice!
Sheraton
On-site pool and jacuzzi. Very chic. We had two connecting rooms, which was perfect for putting the kids to bed on one side, and working on our blog on the other without disturbing them. Two connecting rooms also means two bathrooms, which is an important detail when traveling with five people! If you're coming to Laval to store, this is the one closest to the CF Carrefour Laval you won't even have to move your car!
For the "Mommy, I'm hungry!" crowd, the Sheraton's gourmet counter, La Spesa, will tide you over. Or treat yourself to the gourmet buffet at the Piazza restaurant.

Residence Inn
Recently renovated. The Residence Inn
Full suites for families and pitou admitted at extra charge
Holiday Inn
Modern. On-site pool, with windows overlooking a wooded area, which allowed us to see a turkey! Holiday Inn offers all meals free of charge for children in the two restaurants attached to the hotel, including the French brasserie Chez Lionel. With three kids, that's a substantial saving! While all the hotels are very well located, this one was more intuitive in terms of getting in and out, with access via Terry Fox Avenue. Mathieu also thought the in-room coffee was the best.
Comfort Inn
At Comfort Inn breakfast is included for everyone. The hotel has recently been renovated. It's also smaller, so there's no elevator, which meant we didn't have to worry about who was going to push the button. A detail which, it seems, makes all the difference when you have three small children.
Hilton
At Hiltonwe were really pampered, because they offered us one of their brand-new family suites. Wow! Two closed bedrooms, a small living room and a kitchen with fridge, hob and microwave. It was so perfect that we wished we could have stayed one more night, but the room wasn't available (tip: book well in advance!). There's a swimming pool on site. I think it's also worth mentioning that their new suites have been designed with the environment in mind. All light bulbs are LED and almost everything in the suite is made in Canada. We love it!
